University Philharmonic Orchestra presents Wishes: 20 Years in Concert, celebrating UPO’s 20th anniversaries. On 8th April 2026 at City Hall, nearly 100 student musicians unite to honour two decades of music.
The programme reflects our journey. The first half of the concert is themed Reflection. It opens with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, celebrating UPO’s legacy. Anderson’s Trumpeter’s Lullaby returns to music’s quiet essence. Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (III) features a student soloist. Webber’s Phantom of the Opera narrates twenty years of drama.
The second half, titled Exploration, begins with Williams’ Superman March, symbolising aspiration. Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso showcases our maturity, with another student soloist. The concert concludes with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 (IV), soaring with hope for the future.
Entirely student-led, every note a wish for harmony and legacy.
